Congratulations to our client, Sportvision! Their newest player and puck tracking technology made a successful debut at the World Cup of Hockey.
Through embedded tracking devices, fans are able to see real-time data like a player’s ice time, speed, and travel as well as puck speed, trajectory, and distance. “It gives people another way to connect with the game,” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.
219 Design was excited to have played a small role in this effort. We helped Sportvision to improve the layout and firmware for the circuit boards used in both the hockey puck and jersey tag. We also worked with Sportvision to integrate and debug system issues during development.
“Sportvision’s tracking technology certainly has the potential to transform the sport of hockey, as it provides deeper data than has ever been available before.” Sports Illustrated
On October 4, 2016, Sportvision was acquired by SMT (SportsMEDIA Technology), a live data integration, and real-time graphics presentation and video enhancements solutions company. Sportvision’s technology will continue to live on as it becomes integrated with SMT’s robust suite of products to facilitate and accelerate the next generation of products for hockey and other sports. As of 2017, Sportvision will be rebranded as SMT.
